Lisa Mathews

Lisa Mathews has been a professional book editor for more than 35 years, as well as a published author. She began her career editing Nancy Drew books, moving on to hold senior editorial positions at several major publishers. After nearly a decade at Random House as Executive Editor and Creative Director, she became a senior editor at Peachtree Publishers in Atlanta. In 2010 she started her own freelance editing and coaching business, specializing in mystery, thriller, and suspense projects. She also edits young adult (YA) and middle grade manuscripts in every genre.
Lisa wrote 20+ books under pseudonym for book series such as Mary-Kate and Ashley and The Lizzie McGuire Mysteries. Her publishers include Random House, HarperCollins, Disney, and Scholastic. Currently, as Lisa Q. Mathews, she writes mysteries for adults. The Irish Bed & Breakfast Mysteries, her most recent series, debuted in August 2024 from Crooked Lane Books. The Ladies Smythe & Westin series was published by Carina Press/Harlequin and Worldwide Mystery. Lisa's short story "Fly Me to the Morgue" in the Malice Domestic anthology Mystery Most Diabolical (Wildside Press) was recently nominated for the Agatha Award for Best Short Story.
